Great Scot! They Were Right!
Marty and Doc Brown landed in 2015 way back in 1989, and they may have been onto a thing or two…
If you’ve seen Back To The Future II, you might be a little more prepared for what 2015 has in store for us given that Marty and Doc Brown visited our present and their future back in the 1989 film.
The start of the New Year is always one to reflect on technological advancements for us at VPS.NET, and is a time when we think about what could be in store for us for the coming year. It would seem that a few predictions have already been proved true by none other than Steven Spielberg himself, and so we’re hoping that another few years could see us wielding lightsabers and speaking like yoda (great hosting, we sell).
So I’m not sure if you remember, but last year saw us get pretty excited about wearable tech. With the invention of the Apple Watch on the horizon, and Google Glass-gate causing a stir among the public, we put it on our ‘what to watch’ list for this year, and it would seem Marty and Doc agree with us! If the film is anything to go by, the wearable market is about to boom… Spooky!
Interactive gaming is a language that we speak; we’re always testing out new technologies to improve our gaming experience. Marty and Doc knew some of what was in store for the future of gaming; the film predicts hands-free interactive gaming, similar to that of Kinect gaming which turns you into the controller.
The way in which we work with each other and conduct business meetings has come a long way since the 1989 days of Back To The Future II, although watching the film you’d think that Skype was a part of their everyday life. When Marty and Doc Brown visit 2015 in the second installment of the Back To The Future trilogy, they see modern-day Marty conducting business calls over video chat, software which is a big part of today’s culture thanks to Skype and FaceTime.
It would’ve been a little scary if the 2015 of the film was a mirror of today’s society (we’re putting time travel on next year’s prediction list so watch this space), and so naturally BTTF missed the mark with a couple of inventions. The hover boards which are seen in the film, for example, are yet to hit mainstream society. However, we heard a few rumours on the Internet about a possible hover technology in development in collaboration with skateboarding genius Tony Hawk, so watch this space…
This year, we’re predicting huge success for each and every VPS.NET customer!
